Letter 2 Sam Rivera Pres Hispanic Pastors

FROM MY EMAIL TO SAM RIVERA

, I pose the query: really, are we any better
off  than we were 12, or 24 Months Ago.
When I spoke to you this evening and you
said that no one had asked the Hispanic
Pastors Association for input in the selection
process, I there and then determined that
we can not stand silent and idle while our
children are ravaged in this fashion.

Who will speak for the helpless children
our future posterity. Why are able bodies,
grandparents and senior elders of our own
not sought out to alleviate the conundrum
of mis-education.

In such a case we would discover things
not worse and very likely better, making
them all look very bad.

Requests for culture relevant mentoring
and role models falls on deaf ears and
our own neglect to chorus the chant in
fear of some paltry loss.  We have been
bought and paid for and the litmus is our
silent voices.

Who is Dr. Peggy Brooks-Bertram, Dr.
P.H., Ph.D, are we allowed to know any
more about her or than any of the other
three unknowns. Well, we are barely
getting to know Ms. Dixon. '

The candidates also include Dr.
Edward Newsome, who is the
Assistant Superintendent for
High Schools in Baltimore
County, Maryland. Prior to his
current role, Newsome served
as Director of the School of Per-
formance in Montgomery County,
Md., and has 38 years of experience
in public education.

The third candidate is Dr. Pamela
Brown, currently serving as Senior
Research and Planning Associate for
the Center for Educational Leadership
and Technology in Marlborough, Mass.
Prior to her current role, Brown served
as Assistant Superintendent and Chief
Academic Officer for the Philadelphia
School District, and also has education
administration experience in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District.

Meet and greet Ms. Dixon and Mr Newsome
5:30 Thursday at Waterfront School
Dr Brown is not Expected to Attend

Dr. Bertram is no stranger to broadcast media . . . she maintained a bi-line, MAAT, with the Challenger newspaper. She produced her own radio program, Peggy’s Place, which focused on issues pertinent to the African American community.

The virtual vacuum between District and Community can in no way be bridged with the means we have had since that is the definition of insanity and we have just come down twenty years of that.  So we already know what we get with methods used to date.
